SALISBURY, Md. - George L. Waddell, 79, died Friday, January 27, 2012 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. George was born December 15, 1932 in Pulaski, VA, to George and Elsie Waddell.

George served in the United States Army during which time he participated in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post 8276, The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge A.F.& A.M. of Virginia and Williamson Rd Lodge 163 in Roanoke VA. George attended Allen Memorial Baptist Church in Salisbury.

George loved spending time with his family, playing his guitar, fishing, boating and wood working and making furniture; he also enjoyed working around the home he helped build. George worked at B.F. Goodrich transferring to Salisbury with the company in 1966. He later worked for Sauerhoff Motors, and retired from Mark May Ford formerly Cavanaugh Motors.

In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by two sisters Roberta Burnette and Viola Morefield.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Waddell, of Salisbury, MD; daughter Sharon Cherricks and her husband Garry; son, Steven Shores and his wife Sherri both of Salisbury; two grandsons, Joshua Shores and his wife Laura, Caleb Shores and his girlfriend Amber both of Salisbury; several nieces and nephews and his favorite companion and pet cat "Blackie".

A funeral services will be Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00AM at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury MD with a visitation one hour prior. There will also be a visitation held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 6:00- 8:00PM also at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury MD. Interment will be at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury following the service.
