MILFORD, Del. - Concerns over Prime Hook flooding will be the topic of discussion at Friday's public meeting in Milford.
Sen. Gary Simpson (R-Milford) and Rep. Harvey Kenton (R-Milford) are sponsoring the event, which kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Carlisle Fire Hall.
Officials say the meeting will let residents know about some of the complex factors that are helping to cause the flooding and why the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge wants time to move forward. State officials say they have asked Michael Stroeh, the manager of the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, to present to residents information about the challenges to the current marsh system and the causes of the flooding.
Representatives of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, the Department of Transportation, Sussex County government, Gov. Jack Markell, U.S. Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE), U.S. Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) and U.S. Rep. John Carney (D-DE) are expected to attend Friday's meeting.
