SALISBURY, Md. - Bringing entertainment to the Eastern Shore, the Community Players of Salisbury is once again giving back to its future performers by offering two $500 scholarships through the Delmarva Education Foundation. It's for high school seniors living in Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties looking to attend college. Officials say they are also including Delmar High School students, and students who receive home-schooling.
"With college costs being what they are today a $500 scholarship doesn't go very far. The one thing that we hope is the recipients use that money to their best advantage," said Rusty Mumford, on the Board of Directors for Community Players of Salisbury. @
He is currently directing Community Players' second show of the season: Agatha Christie's "The Mouse Trap" which will be open to the public on February 24th. @
"Two of our very major goals in Players is to provide quality theater for the audience and to encourage students who are planning to pursue a career in a theater related field, to take that step," said Mumford.
To qualify, you must have some involvement with Community Players, whether it's through a family connection or through participation in a previous show. Academics are also a factor. For a full list of qualifications, contact the Delmarva Education Foundation at 410-219-3336. The deadline to apply is in April.
