REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The New Year brings new beginnings for the state of Delaware. In 2012 same sex couples will now be able to enter into legally recognized civil unions. Mitch Melton of Camp Rehoboth says, "Gay rights are civil rights are human rights women's rights are human rights we are all human and we all deserve life liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Governor Jack Markell signed the law in front of a cheering crowd back in May. The law comes two years after the general assembly outlawed discrimination based on sexual orientation. According to the US Census Bureau, Delaware ranks among the top 10 states in the percentage of households with reported same sex couples. Greg Oliver says, "This is something we never thought we could do." Greg Oliver and Andy Doroski live in Rehoboth and have been together for fifteen years. They are now planning to finally make their commitment to one another legal. Greg says, "I plan to be down there the first day of business on Tuesday after the Martin Luther King holiday and signing up Andy as my spouse and he'll become eligible for my insurance and my pension benefits and for the first time we don't have to worry about retirement and old age anymore."
