
BERLIN, Md. - If you live in Worcester County and are looking for somewhere to drop off your holiday trees look no further.
The Solid Waste Division of Worcester County is once again collecting Christmas trees through January 14, 2012. Trees can be dropped off at the Central Landfill in Newark and both the Berlin and Pocomoke Homeowners Convenience Centers. Officials say the drop-off is free and it's for area residents only.
Officials say businesses and organizations looking to sell trees can take them to the Central Landfill. However, they will not be accepted at the convenience centers.
Residents in Ocean City you can drop off holiday trees at the 100th Street Municipal Parking Lot. Trees can be placed in the northeast corner of the lot through January 31, 2012.
Officials say to remove all tinsel, ornaments and other non-wooden items from the tree.
All of the trees collected will be taken to the county landfill where they will be ground into mulch.
