Fatal Vehicle Accident Involving Pedestrian Near Berlin

BERLIN, Md. - A fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian claims the life of a Berlin man.

Maryland State Police say it happened in the area of MD Rt. 611 just south of MD Rt. 707.

Authorities say 26-year-old Andrew Smith, of Berlin, entered the southbound lanes of MD Rt. 611 directly in the path of a 2001 Mazda pickup, driven by 21-year-old Matthew Donahue of Bishopville. Officials say Smith was determined to be deceased by Ocean City EMS.

Police say the investigation closed the roadway for about 2 hours and the incident is currently under investigation.
