Mardela Springs Family Chosen For Extreme Build

Posted: Updated:

MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. - Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has arrived in Mardela Springs, Md. After weeks of speculation, Ty Pennington arrived Wednesday to surprise the Johnson-Goslee family.

The house chosen is home to 16-year-old Wyzhir Johnson-Goslee. The teen was working to improve his family home with the help of his Grandfather. But things took a tragic turn on Christmas Eve in 2010 when Wyzhir's coat sleeve got caught in a miter saw. After more than 10 surgeries, doctors were unable to save his hand. The community later came together to help Wyzhir get a prosthetic hand. But the home they live in is in horrible disrepair. That's where Ty Pennington and the designers at Extreme Makeover come in. Together, with the Fusion Companies, they will provide a new home for the Johnson-Goslees.

Fusion specializes in energy efficient homes and while they are ready for the project, they are still looking for help. Owner Wes Sims says they still need a lot of supplies and volunteers.
