Salisbury, MD. Have you ever wondered why some folks' gardens seem to thrive while others languish? Ever wonder how some folks always seem to know where to go for practical information when a gardening problem crops up? Or how to tell when it really is a problem versus being simply an annoying situation, thank you very much, Mother Nature?
The most likely answer is that they are Master Gardeners. Becoming a Master Gardener and having access to that same practical knowledge is not as difficult as you may think.
This Fall, the Master Gardener Program will be taught at the University Of Maryland Wicomico Extension office located at 28647 Old Quantico Road in Salisbury. The series of classes (9AM to noon unless otherwise noted) begin this Saturday, 10, September and are every Saturday through 19 November. The timing is perfect because the classes begin after the height of the gardening season is over and finish up before we really get into the holidays. If you play your cards right, it will also get you out of the dreaded leaf raking chores.
The best news is that the classes are modestly priced at $160.00 for the series and include a Master Gardener Manual (absolutely worth the price of admission) and a binder with all the fact sheets available from the University of Maryland and the Home and Garden Information Center.
