Alice Davis
Police found Davis' vehicle near the Wal-Mart in Fruitland.
ALLEN, Md. - An Allen woman has been missing now for more than 24 hours. 56-year-old Alice Davis went missing on Labor Day. Her picture is now being displayed on digital billboards throughout Wicomico County.
Davis, who lives on Allen Road in Allen, was last seen wearing a yellow shirt with cats on the front, blue shorts and sandals. Davis was reported to be en-route to the Wal-Mart in Fruitland. Police found her vehicle in the area.
Davis is the sister of former Salisbury mayor Barrie Tilghman and an English teacher at Parkside High School, where she has worked since 1983. Tracy Sahler with the Wicomico County Board Of Education said the school's principal visited all of Davis' classes Tuesday to talk with her students, "just to tell them what was happening."
Investigators are not releasing much information at this time, but tell WMDT they are still treating this as a missing persons investigation. In the meantime, Davis' family, friends and co-workers say they are looking for answers and clinging to hope. Sahler said, "The staff those who worked with her, join with her family and everyone who knows her, hoping she is found safely."
The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation is asking anyone with information on Davis' whereabouts to call them at 410-548-4898.
