Smyrna looks to avenge Week 1 loss in title game

Smyrna State Title Preview

SMYRNA, De - The Smyrna Eagles have many reasons to want to beat Middletown on Saturday afternoon. Middletown was the team that snapped Smyrna's 22-game winning streak in Week 1, the Cavaliers have since then reeled off 10 straight victories and stand as the only remaining undefeated team in the state (11-0). There's also a championship on the line, with the Eagles eyeing their third straight DI championship, with only one team standing in their way.

"We're a completely different team now", said Smyrna head coach Mike Judy. "We had guys that we're in their first varsity start." The Eagles will lean on quarterback Isaiah Wilson V, who is much more confident than he was some 10+ weeks ago when he lined up in his first game as an Eagle. "Its definitely a relief to get here, but now i've got one more game to put it together and put it all out there."

Smyrna comes into the finale with one of the best players of all-time in the state in running back Will Knight, who recently broke the career state rushing record. "To be able to go to 3 championships is a blessing," said Knight. "I'm just ready to give it my all one more time with my brothers."
