UPDATE: Mardela Springs man arrested for reportedly robbing Food Rite in Hebron

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. - Deputies say that a Mardela Springs man was arrested for robbing a Food Rite convenience store on New Year's Day, in Hebron.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, at 7:14 on January 1, deputies responded to Food Rite on South Main Street in Hebron, for the report of a robbery.

A Criminal Investigation Division detective learned that an employee just opened the business when a male suspect entered and reportedly demanded money from the store clerk.

The suspect allegedly pushed and threatened the victim employee during the robbery. Deputies say that several items were stolen before the suspect fled the business. The victim was not injured.

On Tuesday, detectives identified 35-year-old John Lowe of Mardela Springs, as the suspect. Detectives located and arrested Lowe at the 8400 block of Hurley's Neck Road in Mardela Springs.

Lowe was transferred to the Wicomico County Detention Center and is being held without bond on armed robbery, robbery, first and second degree assault, theft, false imprisonment and firearm related charges.
