SALISBURY, Md. - Police say that a suspect was identified, found, arrested and charged in connection with a robbery that happened last Saturday at BB&T Bank in Salisbury.
On Saturday at 9:00 a.m., members of the Salisbury Police Department responded to BB&T Bank on North Salisbury Boulevard for the report of a robbery. Bank employees said that a suspect went into the bank, handed over a note and demanded money.
Investigators say that upon entering the bank, 26-year-old Steven Ewell of Rising Sun, displayed a note that demanded money from the bank employee. The bank employee reportedly gave the suspect money, and the suspect fled on foot.
Investigators were assisted by the Worcester County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit which conducted a track for the suspect; however, the track was unsuccessful.
There were no injuries reported from the robbery. Detectives reviewed bank surveillance footage along with surveillance footage from surrounding businesses, and found that there was a single suspect involved in the incident.
Upon more review of video footage from the bank and nearby areas, investigators positively identified the suspect as Ewell. During the early afternoon hours of June 17, detectives got an arrest warrant charging Ewell with the bank robbery.
On Monday, with the help of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, Ewell was found in Crisfield and arrested without incident. Ewell was taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center where he is being held pending an initial appearance on robbery and theft charges.
