Pittsville man arrested after allegedly slamming victim into a wall

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. - Deputies say that a Pittsville man was arrested on Monday evening after allegedly slamming a victim into a wall.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, on Monday at 6:56 p.m., a deputy responded to a reported domestic related altercation at a home on Mount Hermon Road in Pittsville. When the deputy arrived, the deputy reportedly learned that 36-year-old Charles Mitchell and a woman that lives with him had been arguing.

The arguing reportedly escalated into a physical altercation and the victim told police that Mitchell grabbed her by the throat and slammed her into a wall.

While on the scene, the deputy saw signs of injury to the victim that matched her account. The deputy arrested Mitchell and took him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner.

Following a first appearance, Mitchell was detained in the Detention Center in lieu of $15,000 bond on a second degree assault charge.
