MARYLAND - Officials with the local homeless alliance announce the availability of space for people seeking shelter from the cold in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties.
The Homeless Alliance for the Lower Shore (HALS) Continuum of Care Committee says on Tuesday, area shelters in Somerset, Wicomcio, and Worcester Counties are adding additional shelter beds so that people can escape the frigid temperatures.
Below is a list of shelters being used to accommodate those trying to get out of the cold:
HALO - The Wicomcio County Shelter is opening a severe cold weather shelter in addition to their normal shelter beds open from 6:00 PM to 7:30 AM until the Community Emergency Shelter Program (CESP) starts to operate its cold weather shelter on January 6. Call HALO at 410-543-2003.
Lower Shore Shelter - Additional beds available for people trying to get out of the cold. Call the Lower Shore Shelter at 443-888-6160.
St. Peters Lutheran Church - The Ocean City church is operating a cold weather shelter to serve men and women. Call the St Peter Lutheran Church at (410) 524-7474.
