Dorchester Co. man sentenced for sexually abusing a minor

DORCHESTER COUNTY, Md. - Officials say that a man was sentenced for sexually abusing a minor in Dorchester County, on Friday.

According to the Dorchester County State's Attorney's Office, a judge sentenced Brett Magrogan to 55 years in the Division of Corrections, suspend all but 50 years of which 15 years is a mandatory minimum, without parole, and five years supervised probation.

Upon release, Magrogan will be a tier three sexual offender registered for life, and supervised for the rest of his life as a sex offender. Magrogan pleaded guilty on September 11, to one count of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of second degree rape.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy State's Attorney Jamie L. Dykes. Dorchester County State's Attorney William Jones commended the Maryland State Police for their work in the investigation.
