Arson fire causes $45k in damage to Church Hill home

CHURCH HILL, Md. - Officials say that they are investigating an arson fire that happened on Friday morning in Church Hill.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office, at 8:34 a.m., 40 firefighters with the Church Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to an empty two story single family house on Crane Swamp Road for a fire. Officials say that the fire took about ten minutes to get under control.

The estimated loss of structural damage is $45,000 while the estimated loss of contents is $5,000. The cause of the fire was an arson, and it was discovered by a neighbor.

Investigators say that the house has been empty for several years and that it was in very poor condition before the fire. Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Maryland Deputy State Fire Marshals in Easton at 410-822-7609.
