GEORGETOWN, Del. - Police are searching for a suspect after, authorities say they robbed a woman at gunpoint while she was sitting in her vehicle, in Sussex County.
The Georgetown Police Department says on Wednesday, around 1:20 PM, a woman was sitting in her vehicle which was parked in a private parking lot south of East Market Street, between South Race St. and Railroad Avenue, in Georgetown. Police the woman's door was then pulled open by a suspect who put a gun to the victim's head. According tot he report, the suspect then demanded that the victim hand over her belongings. The suspect reportedly reached inside the vehicle and grabbed the victim's purse. At that point, officers say the suspect then hit the woman in the back of the head with the gun multiple times, before fleeing towards East Market Street.
After further investigation, police say video footage shows the suspect driving a dark color GMC Yukon. According to law enforcement, convenience store video shows images of the suspect. Authorities report that the suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt wit "Cape Vikings" on the front, and blue sweatpants. The suspect also reportedly dropped their keys during the robbery which were attached to an Eagles lanyard.
