FREDERICA, Del. - Troopers continue to search for the second suspect involved in a home invasion, after one suspect was arrested during a traffic stop, in Frederica.
Delaware State Police say on Monday, just after 4:00 PM, troopers on patrol noticed a blue Dodge Dakota fail to stop at a stop sign on Jackson Street, in Frederica. Police say during the traffic stop, the driver was identified as 37-year-old Eric Huffstutler, of Frederica.
According to the report, during the traffic stop, drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle. Troopers report that a search then revealed a black duffel bag containing 4 boxes of 9mm, 1 box of .45, and 2 boxes of .223 ammunition. Huffstutler was then taken into custody because he is apparently a person prohibited.
After further investigation, a search warrant was obtained to a home in the 100 block of Jackson Street. Authorities say members of the Delaware State Police SORT team, Troop 3 Governors Task Force, Kent County Drug Unit, and the Criminal Investigative Unit executed the search warrant which led to the discovery of numerous rounds of ammunition that were collected along with two of the guns that belonged to a victim of a home invasion and robbery.
DSP says Huffstutler was arrested as one of the suspects involved in the home invasion incident, where a man was assaulted and guns were taken from his Frederica home, on January 10.
Huffstutler was charged with home invasion, robbery first degree, assault first degree, three counts of theft of firearm, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, conspiracy second degree, and terroristic threatening. He was later turned over to the James T. Vaughn Correctional center on a $84,500 cash only bond.
