Rehoboth Beach voting on new rules for beach equipment

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Rehoboth Beach commissioners vote Friday night on whether to put new rules in place, restricting certain beach equipment.

Officials say there are safety concerns over equipment that could block life guard views or fly away during high winds.

In the ordinance, devices used to shade small children should be no larger than three feet high by three feet wide and three feet deep.

People would have to request use of certain devices and umbrellas would have to be secured.

Beach goers would not be able to have an umbrella in front of a lifeguard.

Umbrellas, tents and equipment would also have to be removed from the beach daily.
