SEAFORD, Del. - Police say that they have arrested a Seaford man for drug and traffic related charges after a short chase that began in Oak Orchard on Thursday night.
According to Delaware State Police, around 10:22 PM on Thursday night, a trooper on patrol saw an Oldsmobile Aurora driving erratically, on Oak Orchard Road. The trooper tried to stop the vehicle, when the vehicle turned into a nearby Royal Farms and then fled southbound on Oak Orchard Road.
The car then made a U-turn in the River Mobile Home Park, just off Oak Orchard Road, and continued northbound on Oak Orchard Road across John J. Williams Highway (S.R. 24) before coming to a stop at the intersection of Mount Joy Road and Townsend Road.
22-year-old Hashun Mitchell of Seaford, was taken into custody without any further incident. Police say that just before crossing over S.R. 24, Mitchell was seen throwing an object out of his driver's side window. The object was reportedly later found by troopers and determined to be 1,300 bags (9.1 grams) of heroin. A search of the Aurora also reportedly found 1.17 grams of marijuana.
Mitchell was taken to Troop Four where he was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of heroin, tampering with physical evidence, disregarding a police officer's signal, resisting arrest, driving under the influence of a drug, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous other traffic related offenses.
He was arraigned at J.P three and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $38,762 cash bond.
