MILFORD, Del. - Police say that a Milford man was arrested on Sunday to complete an investigation into a robbery that happened on Franklin Street, last Thursday.
On Thursday at 9:30 PM, a victim was walking in the area of Franklin Street and Marshall Street when he was approached by a suspect who displayed a knife. The suspect allegedly cut the victim with the knife and tried to take property from the victim's pockets but the suspect was not able to. At the time, the suspect reportedly fled after the victim said that he was going to tell police. The victim was taken to Bayhealth in Milford where he was treated for his injuries.
Responding officers could not find the suspect. On Sunday, the victim told Milford Police that he saw the suspect at Walmart. At that time, officers responded to Walmart to locate and identify the suspect. Upon arrival, officers contacted 37-year-old Jorge Romero of Milford.
Romero who allegedly first gave an incorrect name, was taken into custody without incident. A search of Romero reportedly found that he had drug paraphernalia and stolen items from Walmart. Romero has been charged with shoplifting, criminal impersonation, possession of drug paraphernalia, first degree attempted robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony and second degree assault.
Romero was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court three in Georgetown, where bail was set at $69,500 secured. Romero was committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution.
