LAUREL, Del. - Police say that they are searching for a suspect who assaulted an officer in Laurel on Tuesday morning.
According to Delaware Fish and Wildlife Natural Resources Police, officers are looking for 21-year-old Daniel Allen, of Seaford. Allen was reportedly pulled over during a traffic stop in the Nanticoke Wildlife Area when he assaulted and escaped from an officer. The officer was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics.
Allen then allegedly fled into Broad Creek but officials say that the search for Allen in the water has ended and that officers are now searching for him on land. Authorities had previously begun searching for Allen at 9:30 PM on Tuesday night, but they suspended their search at 1:30 AM on Wednesday morning.
Police say that Allen also has two warrants and that officers found drugs in Allen's belongings. Anyone with information on where Allen may be is asked to call Lieutenant Zolper at 302-381-5718.
Police say that they are searching for a drowning victim at a creek, in Laurel, on Wednesday morning.
According to Delaware Fish and Wildlife Natural Resources Police, officers responded to Broad Creek at 11:00 PM on Tuesday night, for a male drowning victim. Police say that a man went into the water from land and officials have not been able to find him.
Officials began searching around 11 PM on Tuesday night and called off their search at 1:30 AM on Wednesday morning.
Police say that this is an ongoing investigation and that officials are set to resume their search on Wednesday morning.
Local fire departments and Delaware State Police have been helping with the search.
