Maine man in prison for child rape to appear on additional child porn charges

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - A Maine man sentenced on rape charges in Delaware will have an initial appearance this month on additional child pornography charges.

According to officials with the U.S. Attorney's Office, 36-year-old James Allen will be in federal court on March 16th.

In January, Allen was sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl in a Georgetown hotel room in February 2015. He was found guilty of three counts of third degree rape and one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

Allen and the girl had reportedly interacted on social media before Allen traveled to Georgetown to meet her in person in February 2015. Delaware State Police were looking for the girl, a reported runaway, and alerted Georgetown Police that she was believed to be in a room at the Georgetown Comfort Inn. Georgetown Police found the two in a room along with a life-like baby doll, a car seat, diapers and various other child care items. Allen reportedly told police that they two were seeing what it was like to have a baby.
