DOVER, Del. - Police announced on Friday that they are continuing their investigation into a shooting that happened in the Capitol Park Development in early October, in which one suspect has been identified and arrested.
According to Delaware State Police, around 10 AM on Wednesday, October 11, in the 100 block of Presidents Drive, a 29-year-old man from Dover was shot by an unknown suspect, while standing next to a parked vehicle.
The victim, who was shot multiple times, was transported from the scene by EMS to an area hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition. Through investigative measures, a suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Khalil Mahlik Hanzer, of Magnolia.
On Tuesday October 17, Hanzer was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for unrelated charges. A search warrant was executed at the home where Hanzer was staying and a handgun was recovered.
On Wednesday, December 20, Hanzer was charged with first degree attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Hanzer was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court two and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $1,080,000 cash bond.
