Lake Forest educator awarded as 'Teacher Who Makes A Difference'

FREDERICA, Del. - One Frederica teacher was paid a special surprise Wednesday morning from our news crew and named a "Teacher Who Makes A Difference".

Andrea Hamilton of Lake Forest Elementary is the latest recipient of the award sponsored by 47ABC and Accurate Optical.

Hamilton teachers 24 third-grade students at the school and has been teaching for about 12 years overall.

Aside from her day-to-day duties as a teacher, she also serves as a tutor for the students; however, teaching can certainly be a taxing profession. Hamilton tells 47ABC, passion for teaching children is one vital key.

The other aspect, she says, is the ability to be flexible.

"There's no way to do this job if you're not flexible. Things change every single day. Students' needs change every day so you have to be extremely flexible and patient in order to pull this off every single day," Hamilton explains.
