Dover man arrested in connection with robbery

DOVER, Del. - Police say that a Dover man was arrested for the June 25th robbery of the 7/11 in the Hamlet Shopping Center following a joint investigation by Dover and Delaware State Police.

25-year-old Jarel Williams was taken into custody at his Alder Road home without incident by Dover Police. Williams is accused of taking Newport cigarettes and an unknown amount of cash.

After taking Williams into custody, a search warrant was executed at his home where detectives found some of the clothes that Williams reportedly wore during the crimes, in particular, police say that they found a white hooded sweatshirt that had the words: REHOBOTH BEACH printed on the front.

Police say that the sweatshirt was worn by Williams during one of the burglaries and in two of the robberies. A search warrant was also executed on a car that Williams was reportedly seen driving before his arrest. During the search, police say that they found a 12 gauge shotgun.

A computer inquiry reportedly revealed that the shotgun had been reported stolen from a home in Frederica on June 13. Police say that Williams was identified as the suspect in the 7/11 robbery along with numerous other robberies and burglaries in Delaware State Police jurisdiction.

Williams was committed to JTVCC in default of $467,750 cash bond on first degree robbery, second degree conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony.
