DelDOT asking for public input on intersection improvements in Sussex Co.

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - The Delaware Department of Transportation is asking for public input for proposed intersection improvements at S.R. One and Minos Conaway Road and corridor wide improvements along Plantation Road, in Sussex County.

Officials say that the purpose of these projects is to preserve mobility to local residents and businesses while providing roadway improvements that would cut congestion, improve safety, and accommodate expected growth in local and seasonal traffic.

The Public Workshop will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15 at the Cape Henlopen High School Cafeteria on 1250 Kings Highway, in Lewes, Officials say that attendees will have the opportunity to review display maps with proposed alternatives and provide comments.

The project team members will be there to answer questions. In the event of bad weather, the Public Workshop will reportedly be rescheduled for Tuesday, February 20 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cape Henlopen High School Cafeteria on 1250 Kings Highway, in Lewes. Interested people are invited to express their views in writing, giving reasons for or in opposition to the proposed project.

Comments will be received during the Public Workshop or can be mailed to DelDOT Community Relations, P.O. Box 778, Dover, DE 19903 or sent via email to or by fax to 302-739-9902. The comment deadline will be Friday, March 16.

The Public Workshop location, officials say, is accessible to people with disabilities. Any one with special needs or requiring special aid, such as an interpreter for the hearing impaired is asked to call DelDOT by phone at 302-760-2080 or mail to the above address one week in advance.
