Local Church Offers Free Meals

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - One church on Delmarva is offering food and fellowship today as part of a community outreach effort.

A free community meal is being offered tonight by the Pure Word Bible Church on Elm Street in Princess Anne.

This house of prayer has been hosting the event every month on the second Monday -- hoping to fill the bellies of college students and Princess Anne residents.

The dinner draws anywhere from five to 20 people.

Pastor David Diskin says they've had a hard time getting people to come out because most think they have to be poor or without a home.

"There's a barrier when people see a meal -- a free meal you have to be homeless and that is not our goal here. We certainly would feed anybody that does not have a home but again our desire is just for fellowship."
Diskin says the church will begin construction on a new building on UMES Boulevard very soon. The dinner begins at 6:00 PM tonight and runs until 7:30 PM.
