DOVER, Del. (AP) - A group of businessman, nonprofit leaders and an anonymous donor have teamed up to provide 100 free portable air conditioning units for needy Delaware residents.
The giveaway is coordinated by the Delaware Community Foundation's Operation Cool Air program. The units will be distributed to people based upon income level or disability issues.
Project leaders say senior citizens will receive high priority. People with chronic asthma or severe allergies could be eligible regardless of income level.
People can apply for the units at various Wilmington agencies including several churches, Girls Inc. of Delaware, the Latin American Community Center and the West End Neighborhood House.
