Local Winery Receives Thousands - Dorchester

VIENNA, Md. - The first winery in Dorchester County is receiving funding from the USDA Rural Development.

Layton's Chance Vineyard and Winery is one of close to 200 recipients of grants from the federal organization. On Monday, they received a check for $90,614 from the USDA, in addition to $18,693 from the Maryland Agricultural & Resource Based Industry Development Corporation (MARBIDCO).

Another recipient here on the Shore was Seaberry Farm in Federalsburg, which received a grant of $64,000 from the USDA, which was matched by $9,600 from MARBIDCO.
