RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A dozen transit improvement projects in Virginia will share $12.7 million in stimulus funding.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced the grants Friday.
The grants include $5 million awarded to the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation to buy 43 vans, 10 buses, one trolley bus, and miscellaneous equipment for rural areas.
Grants also were awarded for transit improvements in Lynchburg, Charlottesville, Hampton Roads, Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, Danville, Winchester, Blacksburg and Bristol.
